Ancient Pre Columbian Pottery CUCHIMILCO Peruvian 1200-1400 AD
A wonderful, large pre columbian pottery figure known as a cuchimilco. These were burial figures of the Chancay civilisation although their exact purpose is unknown.
Chancay culture developed in the latter part of the Inca Empire. Ceramic guardian figures were important in this culture.
Repairs to both legs. Hand repaired and reglued. Root marks throughout. One root still remains on the back of the figure. Manganese deposits also present.
