Antique Austrian Goldhaube Folk Headdress Hat

GERMAN / AUSTRIAN GOLDHAUBE FOLK HEADDRESS, bonnet made of gilt-thread lace with sequins and gilt-foil, featuring a floral design to back with five red glass stones, hood with replaced wire supports, beige silk bow applied to back, original print fabric interior lining.


5" LOA, 13 1/2" HOA, 13" WOA.

Date 1850- 1880

From the collection of the late Irene Sarnelle, Staunton, VA. Many folk headdresses and bonnets from the Sarnelle collection were exhibited at various venues. This includes the German-American Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., the German Society of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and Folklore Village in Dodgeville, WI.
